Greater Glasgow Primary Care Trust are responsible for all out of hours care between 6pm and 8am every day and from 6pm Friday to 8am Monday morning. The Trust have contracted with the Glasgow Emergency Medical Services (GEMS) to provide this service. In order to obtain medical advice during these times, please phone NHS 24 on 111. A receptionist in the emergency call centre will answer your call. She will either:
- Arrange advice from a doctor or nurse.
- Invite you to attend one of the emergency centres at various hospitals/clinics across the city to be seen by a doctor. (Transport to and from the centre is available if you cannot arrange this yourself.)
- Arrange a home visit if you are too ill to visit the centre.
Between 8.00 a.m. and 8.30 a.m. Monday-Friday, please phone 0141 531 8440 if you need urgent help or advice and cannot wait until the surgery opens at 8.30 a.m. This is the number for Govan Health Centre. If appropriate, staff there will contact a doctor or practice nurse on your behalf. (Please note that the pre-recorded messages at both surgeries advise you what numbers you should ring when.)
