Out of Hours

Greater Glasgow Primary Care Trust are responsible for all out of hours care between 6pm and 8.30am every day and from 6pm Friday to 8.30am Monday morning. The Trust have contracted with the Glasgow Emergency Medical Services (GEMS) to provide this service. In order to obtain medical advice during these times, please phone NHS 24 on 111. A receptionist in the emergency call centre will answer your call. She will either:

  1. Arrange advice from a doctor or nurse.
  2. Invite you to attend one of the emergency centres at various hospitals/clinics across the city to be seen by a doctor. (Transport to and from the centre is available if you cannot arrange this yourself.)
  3. Arrange a home visit if you are too ill to visit the centre.
